Mr. McKay is widely known in the northwest Denver market among developers, business persons, and local government officials as a successful developer of high quality commercial and residential real estate projects. In addition, Mr. McKay, through his various companies is involved in ranching and aggregate mining, among other business ventures. His family originally settled in the Colorado Territory in 1861. As a fifth generation rancher and landowner in the state of Colorado, Mr. McKay's roots and influence runs deep in the area.

A testament to Charlie's significant involvement in the north Jefferson County business community are the numerous organizations and boards in which he is involved including the Jefferson Economic Council, previous Chairman of the Northwest Metro Chamber of Commerce, Board member of the Metro North Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Denver Boulder Corridor Marketing Coalition, Chairman of the Mandalay Community Center, Inc., Board Member of the Broomfield Economic Development Council, and involvement with the Transportation Management Organization, Rocky Flats Local Impacts Initiative, CDR - Rocky Flats Future Land Use Planning, and Future Jeffco Planning Committee.

In 1983, Mr. McKay moved to Jefferson County, CO. where he became a principal of the Church Ranch Development Company and developed the Church Ranch Corporate Center, a 135-acre Business Park located in Westminster, Colorado. Mr. McKay was intimately involved in the daily operations and management of the Church Ranch Corporate Center, including turnpike interchange design, formation of the Special Improvement District, as well as the zoning and annexation into the City of Westminster, and the design, planning and construction of horizontal infrastructure improvements. Beyond the horizontal land development of the Church Ranch Corporate Center, Mr. McKay was part of the construction of eight single story flex buildings, four multistory class A office buildings, three hotels, and an assisted livinig facility.

In addition to the Church Ranch Corporate Center, Mr. McKay has been instrumental in the following development projects in and around the north Jefferson County Market:

  • Rockwell International 32,000 sq. ft Training Center, & 45, 000 sq. ft. Warehouse
  • Smart Reservoir Expansion Project (1,000 acre ft. water reservoir), Jefferson County
  • Jefferson Center Original Land Plan 18,000 and 5,000 acres Annexation to Arvada, CO
  • Candelas (1,575 acres), Jefferson County
  • Great Western Park/Lantana (385 acres), Broomfield County
  • Mountain Plains Industrial Center (137 acres), Jefferson County
