Pellegrini Winery (Commercial)

Description

This oak timber frame structure is the showcase office and visitor center for one of the most prestigious wineries on Long Island, New York. The architect, Nancy Steelman, was a repeat Hearthstone customer.

Project & Client Story

In 1982, Bob and Joyce Pellegrini set out to make serious, high-quality wine on the North Fork of Long Island, which, at the time, was just beginning to blossom as a wine-producing area. Bob Pellegrini, who was a Manhattan-based graphic designer teamed up with winemaker Russell Hearn and, through the years, have established the Pellegrini winery as a premier wine-maker — as well as a technology leader in the region. Some of the varietals in which they specialize include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc, and Gewurztraminer.

Along the way, the Pellegrini’s needed a building that would showcase the winery for their visitors. Architect Nancy Steelman, of Cutchogue, NY had used Hearthstone structures before and recommended Hearthstone for the project. Our fixed-fee world-wide installation experience and our ability to dependably produce complex timber frame structures on time and on a budget was a deciding factor. But, the biggest factor of all was simply the stunning environment, impression, and statement created by the massive timber frame structure.
